DAY 2: ARUSHA TO LAKE MANYARA NATIONAL PARK

After enjoying breakfast, we set off early in the morning to Lake Manyara National Park, a pristine paradise that’s famed for its rich birdlife and tree-climbing lions. The Park’s western border is marked by the dramatic western escarpment of the Rift Valley, while the eastern side features the shallow and alkaline Lake Manyara. This vast lake covers a significant portion of the park, and during the rainy season, it is home to thousands of flamingos. The park’s name, “Manyara,” originates from the Maasai word “emanyara,” which refers to a popular plant used to construct protective enclosures around homesteads (boma). The park boasts diverse vegetation, ranging from savannah to evergreen forest. While exploring the park, you may encounter magnificent wildlife such as giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, buffalos, and elephants. And if you’re fortunate, you may even spot lions lounging on tree branches.

After Lunch and an extensive game drive, we head for our Campsite for dinner and overnight.

After breakfast, we head to Ngorongoro crater where you’ll be amazed by the intact volcanic caldera and its high density of big game. The Crater offers a pristine wilderness of savannah, woodland, lakes and swamps, concealed by steep volcanic walls. Created two to three million years ago, it’s a geological wonder and home to some of Africa’s densest large mammal populations. We’ll drive down into the crater and spot wildebeest, zebras, gazelles, and over 500 bird species. With a bit of luck, you’ll also get to see the endangered black rhino grazing in the open grasslands.

After picnic lunch at Ngorongoro we ascend up the edges of the crater and then an en-route game drive to Serengeti National Park.

DAY 4: SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK TO KARATU

The Serengeti’s vast open grasslands offer unparalleled wildlife sightings, making it truly spectacular. As Tanzania’s oldest national park and one of the oldest ecosystems on earth, the Serengeti’s climate and vegetation have remained largely untouched for millions of years. While it boasts abundant wildlife, the park is particularly renowned for the annual Great Migration, where large numbers of wildebeest, accompanied by zebra and antelope, seek fresh grazing in an annual pattern determined by rainfall patterns. After a picnic lunch, we’ll take an en-route game drive through the endless plains of the Serengeti on our way to our Karatu campsite.

The park is a vital source of water for wildlife during the dry season, attracting large elephant families, giraffes, bushbucks, hartebeests and a range of predators, including lions and leopards. Tarangire National Park is also home to more breeding bird species than anywhere else on the planet.
