Day 1: Arrival
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, our team from Call Tanzania Safaris will greet and transfer you to your Moshi hotel. Here, you’ll be introduced to your mountain guide, who will give you a briefing about your upcoming trek and check your gear to make sure you have everything you need. You’ll spend the night in Moshi.
Day 2: Trek from Rongai Gate to Simba Camp
After breakfast, transfer to Rongai Gate (1,800m) to begin your trek. Trek through the forest to reach Simba Camp (2,600m), the first camp. The trek takes around 3-4 hours. Have dinner and stay overnight at Simba Camp.
Day 3: Simba Camp to Kikelelwa Camp
After breakfast, you will trek through the moorland zone, with its stunning views of Kibo Peak and the eastern ice fields on the crater rim. You will arrive at Kikelelwa Camp (3,600m) in the late afternoon, where you will have dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Kikelelwa Camp to Mawenzi Tarn Camp
After breakfast, you will trek through a steep and rocky section of the trail, and then descend into the beautiful valley below. You will arrive at Mawenzi Tarn Camp (4,330m) in the early afternoon, where you will have dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Mawenzi Tarn Camp to Kibo Camp
After breakfast, you will trek across the lunar desert of the saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo peaks. You will arrive at Kibo Camp (4,700m) in the early afternoon. After dinner, you will prepare for the summit climb and get some rest.
Day 6: Kibo Camp to Uhuru Peak to Horombo Hut
You will wake up early in the morning and begin the final ascent to the summit of Kilimanjaro, Uhuru Peak (5,895m). The climb will take 6-7 hours and you will arrive at the summit in time to see the sunrise. After taking photos and celebrating your achievement, you will descend to Horombo Hut (3,720m) for dinner and overnight.
Day 7: Horombo Hut to Marangu Gate to Moshi
After breakfast, you will descend through the rainforest to Marangu Gate (1,870m) where you will receive your summit certificates. You will be transferred back to your hotel in Moshi for a well-deserved shower and rest.
Day 8: Departure
After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight home.
